After our anticipated mass in Sta Ana church, we decided to go to The Peak, at Gaisano Mall to see if there are anything that is worth checking and to take our dinner as well. Just as we were about to proceed to an already known place for our dinner, we observed something new to our eyes, located at a not so obvious location at the PEAK. The place is called INENG'S, with a tag line, "the best tasting bbq in town."
The tag line is catchy and ambitious, considering that restos and eatery serving barbecues have sprouted like mushrooms in the city, considering also the history and pride that Davao has with barbecue.
The menu is pretty straight forward, meaning they are not confusing and can easily be distinguished, They serve relatively compact and dense viands, but they lacked the unlimited rice option, now a Davao standard on establishments that serve barbecue as its main dish.
From their menu, you'll find their hitlist, the term they are using for their value/ combo meals. I ordered hit list 3, a combination of their standard pork barbecue, and longaniza, additional rice, and ice tea bottom less. My partner ordered a lot. Hitlist 1, ice tea and leche plan.
They are serving what I term as dry barbecue, in oppose to wet barbecue, where the sauce is overflowing on top of the pork. But it does not mean that it is delicious. Yes, it has a distinct taste to it, enhanced by the vinegar (ordinary) and easy to the tongue. The taste is good enough that I did not have any trouble finishing my extra rice.
If you enjoy Penongs, Mang Inasal, and the likes, INENGS is a good alternative, albeit a pricier one. What you have though is air an conditioned area, cleaner tables and chairs, a little quiet, and the staff are very very attentive and polite.
It may not be the best barbecue in town yet, but it has the potential. It purportedly conquered Manila, from its humble beginnings. As for us coming back, why not, especially for the leche flan.
He said (Ingon ni Leo):
1. Tastes good, may sipa.
2. A little bit pricey but understandable due to its location.
3. Clean place.
4. Friendly staff.
5. Final verdict: Try it for novelty and if you're in the Mall and craves barbecue.
She said:
